"In a Dream You Saw a Way to Survive and You Were Full of Joy"

Many years ago over the course of a few weeks in mid summer I had a series of intensely animated dreams in which I encountered a diverse assortment of frogs appearing in various guises.

I'll never forget the first dream in that sequence: In the vision I was pregnant, with a large belly and walking alone through a quiet, wooded landscape at dusk. I came upon a river, sat down on its bank, and soon gave birth to a large, green frog who appeared in adult form and looked at me piercingly. The frog then spoke several phrases to me in a language I couldn't understand, and then hopped into the river with a splash and swam away. I have pondered the meaning of this dream many times since.

The other dreams that followed were equally vivid, full of adventure, odd characters, and the music of frog songs.

This album is my attempt to recreate the experience of those dreams in which I participated so long ago.

The compositions were recorded with eurorack and hardware synths, and feature sampled field recordings of frogs that I collected over the course of a few years, mainly in New England.
